Bangkok is the center of Thailand’s economy and the country's main port, and it is the main centre for imports and exports. The main unit of currency is the Baht, and 40 Baht is equivalent to one US dollar. Alot of the main income of money comes from tourism, textiles, electronics, and building materials. In the 1990’s, their economy completely crashed from a South Asia economic crisis, but now it has recovered. Exporting and manufacturing goods, investments and tourism were some of the ways that their economy recovered and starting going well again. Bangkok’s and Thailand’s major products that they manufacture are jewels, gems, garments, and computers.

Some popular areas of the city are: Siam, which is the shopping centre of Bangkok, Silom, which is the main financial district with lots of banks and offices, Bangkok Chinatown, with many shops and markets, Old City, which is all the ancient buildings and attractions like the Grand Palace, and Riverside, which also has a lot of historical buildings and attractions, and many luxury hotels.
Culture
Bangkok’s culture is influenced by modern day it but also links back to their traditions. Their culture can be found in their music, language, food, temples, and art, and their amazing architecture. Some traditions include: when you enter a house, the guest or the host must take off their shoes to show respect. Thailand has a constitutional monarchy and it is very important to show reverence to them. The national anthem is broadcasted twice each day, and pedestrians are required to stop still when it plays, and it is also broadcasted before a movie is played at cinemas.
